The Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation, Manipur (RNSOM), Longmai Luangrian, on Monday appealed to the Government of Manipur for the conversion of Jadonang Memorial College, located in Longmai, Noney district, from an aided institution to a government college.

RNSOM Longmai Luangrian President SK Jeanthuipou in a statement, said that Jadonang Memorial College stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity in Noney district, serving as the sole educational institution in the region for over a decade with unwavering commitment to academic excellence and community development having positively impacted countless lives, fostering growth and empowerment among students, faculty, and the local community.

“Despite its remarkable success, Jadonang Memorial College continues to face significant challenges associated with its aided status. Limited financial resources and infrastructure constraints hinder the college’s ability to fully realise its potential and adequately meet the educational needs of the growing student population.

Therefore, we urgently appeal to the Government of Manipur to intervene and facilitate the conversion of the college into a government institution. Such a conversion would alleviate financial burdens, enhance infrastructure facilities, and ensure sustainable access to quality education and would signify a significant step towards realising the educational aspirations of the Rongmei community as fostering socio-economic development in the region for the students of Noney district”, he said.

He further said as representatives of the Rongmei community, Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation, Manipur implores the state government to pay heed to the appeal and take prompt action to initiate the conversion process.
