The inaugural programme of the three-day awareness-cum-training programme on SHODHCHAKRA, an initiative by INFLIBNET Centre for Research Community, was launched at Manipur University on Tuesday. The programme is organised by the Manipur University Library.
Manipur University vice chancellor professor N Lokendra Singh, Dean of Mathematics and Physical Sciences professor Sh Dorendrajit, chairman of Documentation and Publication Cell professor Debananda S Ningthoujam, director IQAC, MU professor Memcha Loitongbam and librarian in-charge professor Ch Ibohal singh attended the function as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.

Addressing the event as the chief guest, Lokendra stressed on the importance of libraries and museums in the university.
He maintained that the two are the primary institution of a university which play key roles in determining the standard of the university.
“When I took charge as VC, my primary objective was to upgrade the infrastructure of the library but I cannot do so alone; it takes a collective concerted effort to take on such a task,” he said.
As such, he sought the support of all facilities to make such undertakings successful and boost the academic standard of Manipur University.
Four publications of the university were also released during the function. The publications include Manipur University Library: Annual Edition (2022-2023), Manipur University Library: Contents of Print Journals (January-August 2023), Manipur University Library: Index to Periodicals subscribed (2022-23) and Manipur University in Implementing National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020).
