Arts Topper Pushpa Naorem pushes for quality education in Manipur

Regular reading key to success, says Pushpa Naorem, who topped in Arts stream, Manipur Higher Secondary Examination 2023 conducted by COHSEM

Topper of Manipur Higher Secondary Examination 2023 in Arts stream conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, Pushpa Naorem of Tamphasana Higher Secondary School desires to become a professor to impart her knowledge to bring quality education in Manipur.

Pushpa Naorem from Kakwa Naorem Leikai Awang is the daughter of N Bhumeshor Singh, a carpenter, and N Sangita Devi, a housewife.

Pushpa topped in the HSE 2023 examination by securing 475 marks with letter marks in English, Manipuri, Political Science, Sociology, Geography and education subjects.

“I had mixed feelings when I heard that I topped the examination. I was happy that I topped the examination and achieved the goal for my struggles... I did not give hours to study but I made a habit of reading daily and I did not feel good when I skipped a day without reading my books,” she said.

Pushpa said she wants to be a professor so that she could impart knowledge to the students in order to bring about good quality education. She said, due to the pandemic she did not appear for the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (Class-X) as the state government gave promotion to all the students.

She said from the beginning till class X she studied at Canchi Academy Kha Naorem Leikai and after passing Class X examination she continued her studies at Tamphasana Higher Secondary School.

Pushpa said she wants to give the credit for being a topper to her parents and relatives and to all the teachers who taught since lower class.

Responding to the ongoing communal clash, Pushpa expressed that only peace can bring development and appealed to the government to take necessary steps in order to bring normalcy in Manipur.

She said any misunderstanding could be solved at a negotiating table and regretted that many people are suffering due to the ongoing communal clash in Manipur.
