The All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) on Monday condemned the alleged irresponsible attitude of the Central government towards the recent NEET (UG), NEET PG, UGC NET examinations scandal in the country.

A release jointly issued by AIFUCTO president, professor M Nagarajan and general secretary, professor Arun Kumar, alleged that the callous indifference of the government is primarily responsible for the cancellation and the deferral of the UGC and the CSIR NET exams and the NEET (PG) exam respectively within a week’s time.

The utter failure of the central government particularly the Ministry of Education in conducting NEET UG Examination and cancellation of NEET PG, UGC -NET examinations etc has sent shock waves in the minds of the young students who tried to crack these examinations, it accused. It further alleged the NTA of turning out as an agent of the Education Mafia and brokers.

This series of systematic governmental failures have jeopardised the future of nearly half a crore highly meritorious students of our country, it said. It added that the same is an unprecedented and unforgivable crime allegedly committed by the government-appointed agencies and institutions, in which neither the department of Higher Education nor the Minister-in-Charge can simply wash their hands off by way of making a few cosmetic changes in the massively flawed and centralised system of conducting national level examinations.

The AIFUCTO has time and again warned the government against conducting national level tests through any centralised mechanism, it maintained. The current fiasco is a result of the government’s arrogant and heady refusal of all the proposals of the teachers’ and students’ bodies in running the system of education, it alleged.

It urged the government to immediately take strictest action against each and every individual and institution responsible for the massive scams and irregularities happening in the field of education over these last few days to ensure justice and equal opportunity to each and every student in the best interest of the future of the country.

AIFUCTO also made several demands including a Supreme Court monitored Investigation Agency of the NEET scam; resignation of Central Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan; scrapping of NTA; to leave to the states to conduct the examinations except for All India Medical Services Exam and to include teachers’ and Student’s bodies including AIFUCTO during any consultations in any policy change in Education Sector, it added.
