The 117th birth anniversary of educationist Kshetrimayum Yaima was held by the Kshetrimayum Yaima Foundation at its office complex at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai in Imphal West on Sunday.
The Kshetrimayum Yaima Foundation organised the event at its office complex at the residence of the president of the foundation and daughter of Kshetrimayum Yaima, Kshetrimayum Subadini at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to Kshetrimayum Yaima followed by the ‘Kshetrimayum Yaima memorial lecture programme’. It was attended by IMC ward No 13 corporator Oinam Romio as the chief guest, dean of the School of Humanities, MU Nahakpam Aruna as the president and associate professor of Birmangol College Laishram Landhoni as the guest of honour.
In the lecture programme, associate professor of Thambal Marik college Khomdram Sarojnalini Devi, retired associate professor of GP Women’s college, delivered lectures on the works of the educationist Kshetrimayum Yaima.
Later, a 'Poets’ Meet' chaired by renowned poet and Sahitya Academy awardee RK Bhubonsana was also held.
On the occasion, Kshetrimayum Subadani said that the foundation will take the responsibility of releasing books written by worthy writers. The foundation will also start honouring renowned writers from the following year onwards, she continued. She also mentioned that a land area of point 5 (measuring unit) has to be dedicated for the construction of the building of the foundation.
The secretary of the foundation Rakesh Naorem stated that the late Ksh Yaima was a multifaceted educationist and a pioneer in promoting the education sector. “The foundation will try to honour his spirit in the coming years,” he added.
