Tripura, which has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases after Assam among the Northeast states, has reported an impressive recovery number of 12,954 against the number of active cases at 7,494, according to the state health department latest updates.
The state has so far screened 77,188 people for coronavirus infection. Of them, total 20,696 cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 till date, as 527 more people tested positive for the viral infection on Thursday. West Tripura accounts for the highest number of positive cases at 7,665 and 122 deaths. The total death cases is 222.
On Wednesday, state Forest and Tribal Affairs Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia tested positive for Covid-19 along with four others from his residence, including his security personnel. They are under home isolation under the supervision of the medical team, the health department stated.
