Three more deaths push COVID-19 death toll to 1,959 in Manipur

A total of 57 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Manipur on Friday.

Manipur on Friday recorded 57 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's COVID-19 confirmed tally to 1,24,757 while the death toll mounted to 1,959 with three new fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department.

Consequently, the COVID-19 positivity rate stood at 3.2 per cent.

The three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday are from Imphal West, Chandel and Kakching. All the deceased had co-morbidities and were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 41 and 12 cases respectively. Two cases were reported from Bishnupur and one each from Chandel and Kamjong.

The state also recorded 50 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,210. The recovery rate is 97.96 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 588 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 255 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 91 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 20,90,419 (first dose: 12,67,217 second dose: 8,23,202). The cumulative number of person who havs been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 54.13 per cent and for second dose is 35.16 per cent, it mentioned.
