Manipur's daily COVID-19 positive case surge to 78

One more patient succumbed to Covid-19 in Imphal West district of Manipur on Saturday.

Manipur on Saturday witnessed a rise in daily Covid-19 positive cases with the detection of 78 new cases of the total 2,061 samples tested, while one more succumbed to the disease in Imphal West, official sources said.

The new Covid-19 positive cases included three persoonel from the Central Armed Police Force, and Covid-19 victim from Imphal West had co-morbidities and was fully vaccinated, a release by the state Common Covid-19 Control Room stated.

Imphal West and Imphal East districts continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 41 and 27 new infections respectively.

Two new cases are from Chandel, one each from Churachandpur, Thoubal and Senapati and five from Uhkrul, the release stated. With it, the state's daily Covid positivity rate stood at 3.8 per cent.

The total Covid-19 confirmed caseload in the state climbed to 1,24,835, while the death toll mounted to 1,960. The total Covid-19 active cases remained below 1000 at 630.

Meanwhile, 35 more persons were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,22,245. The recovery rate is now 97.93 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 781 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 169 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release stated.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 20,97,471 (first dose: 12,68,542 second dose: 8,28,929). The cumulative number of person who havs been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 54.19 per cent and for second dose is 35.41 per cent, it mentioned.
