Manipur on Tuesday witnessed a sudden rise in daily COVID-19 positive cases as 35 people were infected and two more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours. With it, the state's COVID-19 confirmed caseload reached 1,25,878 and the death toll climbed to 2006 as of Tuesday, official sources said.
Consequently, the state's daily positivity rate is 1.6 currently.
Of the new positive cases, five are persoonel of the Central Armed Police Force, while 10 are from Imphal West, nine from Imphal East, three each from Bishnupur and Kakching, one each from Churachandpur, Chandel and Pherzawl, five from Thoubal and two from Kamjong.
Of the two deaths, one is from Kangpokpi and the other from Imphal East.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, a release from the Common Covid-19 Control Room stated.
The state also recorded five new recoveries on Tuesday, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,23,615. The recovery rate fell to 98.20 per cent and the number of active cases surged to 257 as of Tuesday, the release stated.
So far, 14,66,590 samples have been tested for COVID-19 across the state, and the state has reported only one Omicron case as of Tuesday.
As of January 3, a total of 214 D-type oxygen cylinders and 64 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release stated.
The total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 23,22,386. Of it, 9,94,368 people have received the second dose vaccine, the release added.
