Manipur reports 365 new COVID-19 cases, two more deaths

A total of 1,915 samples were tested for COVID-19 in Manipur on Thursday.

Manipur on Thursday reported 365 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state's tally to 1,31,704 while two more fatalities pushed the death toll to 2,036, according to the latest update from the state health department.

The two deaths reported on Thursday were from Imphal East and Ukhrul. Both deceased had co-morbidities and were vaccinated with the second dose. 

A total of 1,915 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, of which 356 returned positive. The daily positivity rate is 19.1 per cent.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 362 persons were from the general population while three were Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. From the general population, 145 cases were from Imphal West, 95 from Imphal East, 25 from Thoubal, 26 from Bishnupur, 13 from Kakching, 1 from Kamjong, five from Kangpokpi, four from Ukhrul, six from Tamenglong, five from Tengnoupal, one from Noney, four from Senapati, five from chandel and 27 from Churachandpur, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 347 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,25,908. The recovery rate is 95.60 per cent, as per the release. Manipur has 3,760 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.

Meanwhile, a total of 451 D-type oxygen cylinders and 112 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 24,57,958 (first dose: 13,99,884, second dose: 10,37,832, precautionary dose: 20,242).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 58.17 per cent and for the second dose is 44.33 per cent, it mentioned.
