Manipur logs 33 new COVID-19 positive cases, tally surges to 1,25,269
COVID-19 claimed one more life in Manipur on Thursday, taking the death toll to 1,979.

Manipur on Thursday recorded 33 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,269 while the death toll mounted to 1,979 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 2.2 per cent.
The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Thursday was from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 13 and 14 cases respectively. Three cases were reported from Bishnupur and one each from Senapati, Churachandpur and Ukhrul.
The state also recorded 28 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,627. The recovery rate is 97.89 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 663 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 754 D-type oxygen cylinders and 212 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,68,185 (first dose: 12,84,653 second dose: 8,83,532). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 65.26 per cent and for second dose is 44.88 per cent, it mentioned.
