A volunteer at catering services provided to some community quarantine centres opened within Thoubal assembly constituency was tested positive on Friday. He has been admitted to Thoubal District Hospital isolation ward for treatment following the confimation, official sources said
The source further informed that the positive patient was an active member of ‘Thoubal Assembly Constituency COVID 19 Aid Committee’. The volunteer was among the nine persons from Thoubal district whose samples were collected on Thursday. The reports of their confirmation came on Friday.
The remaining eight patients were all returnees from outside the state. Among them is a four- year-old –child, who is a returnee from Delhi.
It is also said that the positive volunteer took great initiatives on providing catering service to some of the community quarantine centres of Thoubal assembly constituency. He also used to bring lunch packs for the inmates and kept them on the tables of every community quarantine centre. Though he never made any physical contact with the inmates, he felt suspicious of contracting the disease and got himself tested. His suspicions came true when the results came.
As soon as his confirmation report was received, his family members are also being quarantined now at Thoubal College and necessary testing procedures have been taken up.
