India's Omicron cases surge to 781

As many as 242 patients with Omicron have recovered.

Omicron cases in India surged to 781 as of Wednesday, of which 242 patients have reocvered, according to the latest updates by the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 238 Omicron cases have been reported in Delhi, the highest in the country. Delhi is followed by Maharashtra with 167 Omicron cases.

A total of 21 states have so far reported Omicron cases in India.

Meanwhile, India reported 9,195 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the country's tally to 3,48,08,886. As many as 4,80,592 people have died due to COVID-19 in India, including 302 deaths reported on Wednesday.

With the cumulative number of recovered cases at 3,42,51,292, India has 77,002 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry.
