India on Thursday reported 18,930 new COVID-19 cases and 35 deaths, taking the country's tally to 4,35,66,739 and 5,25,305 respectively, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.
Kerala alone reported as many as 4,113 cases and 19 deaths in a span of 24 hours, while 3,142 COVID-19 cases and seven deaths were reported in Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu also reported a total of 2,743 cases.
Kerala has the highest number of COVID-19 active cases in the country with 30,169, followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with 19,981 and 17,717 cases respectively.

India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 1,19,457 as of Thursday.
The country also recorded 14,650 new COVID-19 recoveries during the same period. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stood at 98.52 per cent and the cumulative tally of recovered cases is 4,29,21,977, the Health Ministry stated.
India has so far conducted 86,53,43,689 cumulative COVID-19 tests, including 4,38,005 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 3.86 per cent and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 4.32 per cent, it added.
Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,98,33,18,772 as per provisional reports till 7 am Thursday.
