India’s daily COVID-19 tally drops to 15,823, while 226 more people died due to the disease, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The country’s total COVID-19 active caseload stood at 2,07,653 as of Wednesday, lowest in 214 days.
The COVID-19 active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.61 per cent, lowest since March 2020.

The number of total COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 3,40,01,743, while the death toll mounted to 4,51,189.
The country’s recovery rate moved to 98.06 per cent, highest since March 2020 with the report of 22,844 more recoveries in the last 24 hours that pushed the total recoveries to 3,33,42,901.

As the situation improved, the weekly positivity rate (1.46%) remained less than three per cent for the last 110 days, while the daily positivity rate (1.19%) fell below three per cent for the last 44 days
So far, 58,63,63,442 total tests have been conducted and 96,43,79,212 vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
