India reports 2,124 new COVID-19 cases

India’s active COVID-19 caseload stands at 14,971, which  constitute 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

India on Wednesday recorded as many as 2,124 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths. The country's cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 4,31,42,192 while the death toll reached 5,24,507, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As per the ministry, India’s active COVID-19 caseload stands at 14,971, which  constitute 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

The country also recorded 1,977 new COVID-19 recoveries, pushing the cumulative tally of recovered cases to 4,26,02,714. India’s recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.

India has so far conducted a total of 84,79,58,776 cumulative COVID-19 tests, including 4,58,924 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry stated.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 0.49 per cent and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 0.46 per cent, it stated.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 192.67 crore (1,92,67,44,769) as per provisional reports till 7 am Wednesday, the ministry added.
