India records lowest daily COVID-19 positive cases in 266 days

India's total Covid-19 confirmed cases rose to 343,77,113, while the death toll mounted to 4,61,389 with 332 more deaths reported, as per the latest updates by the ministry.

India on Tuesday reported 10,126 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours; lowest in 266 days, official sources said.

The day also recorded a recovery rate of 98.25 per cent; highest since March 2020 with 11,982 more recoveries in the last 24 hours and the total recoveries rose to 3,37,75,086, the Union Health Ministry said in a release.

The percentage of active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.41 per cent; lowest since March 2020. And the country’s Covid-19 active caseload stood at 1,40,638; lowest in 263 days.

Daily positivity rate at 0.93 per cent remained less than 2% for the last 36 days, while the weekly positivity rate at 1.25 per cent stood below two percent for the last 46 days.

Meanwhile 61.72 crore total tests have been conducted so far and 109.08 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

The ministry stated in a release that over 116 crore (1,16,89,46,235) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

More than 15.92 Cr (15,92,74,731) balance and unutilised COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
