India's COVID-19 tally on Sunday surged to 4,45,34,188 with the addition of 5,664 new cases, while 35 fatalities pushed the country's death toll to 5,28,337, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The number of active cases surged to 47,922 from Saturday's 46,848. Active cases constitute 0.11 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.
India also recorded 4,555 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,57,929 and the recovery rate is 98.71 per cent as on Sunday.
As many as 89,15,77,185 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in India, including 2,89,228 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.
While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.79 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.96 per cent, the ministry added.
Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,16,56,54,766, including 19,48,54,057 precaution doses.
