India logs 4,912 new COVID-19 cases, 38 more deaths

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.69 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.62 per cent, the Union Health Ministry stated.

India logged 4,912 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's tally to 4,45,63,337, while the death toll surged to 5,28,487 with 38 more fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

The number of active cases dropped to 44,436 from Friday's 45,281. Active cases constitute 0.10 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.

India also recorded 5,719 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,90,414 and the recovery rate is 98.71 per cent as on Saturday.

As many as 89,33,52,145 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in India, including 3,03,888 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.69 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.62 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,17,41,04,791, including 20,20,64,022 precaution doses.
