India logs 408 new COVID-19 cases, five more deaths

The number of active COVID-19 cases in India further dropped to 5,881 on Thursday.

India recorded 408 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths, taking the country's tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,70,483 and death toll to 5,30,601, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

Of the five fatalities recorded on Thursday, four deaths were reconciled by Kerala while one death was reported from Rajasthan in the last 24 hours, the data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am stated.

The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped to 5,881, which comprised 0.01 per cent of the total positive cases.

The country also recorded 568 new COVID-19 recoveries, pushing the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,41,34,001 While the COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.80 per cent, the case fatality rate was recorded to be at1.19 per cent, according to the ministry website.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,19,88,78,448, as per the ministry.
