India COVID-19 Update: West Bengal continues to log highest daily cases

India reported 16,935 new COVID-19 cases and 51 deaths in 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry,

West Bengal continued to report the highest daily COVID-19 cases in India with 2,659 new cases. The state, which has the highest COVID-19 active cases in the country at 30,791, also recorded five deaths in 24 hours.

According to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry, India reported 16,935 new COVID-19 cases and 51 deaths in 24 hours, taking the country's tally to 4,37,67,534 and the death toll to 5,25,760.

India also reported 16,069 new recoveries during the same period. The cumulative tally of recovered cases is 4,30,97,510 and the recovery rate is 98.47 per cent as of Monday.

The country's active caseload currently stands at 1,44,264, which constitute 0.33 per cent of the total positive cases, the Health Ministry stated.

A total of 2,61,470 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours. India has so far conducted over 86.96 crore COVID-19 tests.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has 2,00,04,61,095 as per provisional reports till 7 am Monday, the Health Ministry added.
