India COVID-19 Update: 4,510 new cases, 33 deaths in 24 hours

The number of active cases dropped to 46,216 on Wednesday from Tuesday's 47,379, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India's COVID-19 tally surged to 4,45,47,599 with the addition of 4,510 new cases, while 33 fatalities pushed the country's death toll to 5,28,403, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The number of active cases dropped to 46,216 from Tuesday's 47,379. Active cases constitute 0.10 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.

India also recorded 5,640 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,72,980 and the recovery rate is 98.71 per cent as on Wednesday.

As many as 89,23,89,008 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in India, including 3,39,994 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.80 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.33 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,16,95,51,591, including 19,81,36,796 precaution doses.
