India COVID-19 Update: 12,751 new cases, 42 deaths in 24 hours

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in India surged to 4,41,74,650 and the death toll rose to 5,26,772 on Tuesday.

India on Tuesday recorded 12,751 new COVID-19 cases and 42 deaths, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

With these new positive cases, the country's cumulative number of COVID-19 cases surged to 4,41,74,650 and the death toll rose to 5,26,772.

India’s active caseload stood at 1,31,807, constituting 0.31 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

The country also recorded 16,412 new COVID-19 recoveries, pushing the cumulative tally of recovered cases to 4,35,16,071 and the recovery rate stands at 98.51 per cent.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 3,63,855 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 87.85 crore cumulative tests, the Health Ministry stated.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country is recorded at 4.69 per cent and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 3.50 per cent, as per the ministry data.

Meanwhile, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 206.88 crore, including 11,14,89,540 precaution doses. Over 3.95 crore first dose vaccines have so far been administered for the age group 12-14 years.
