He said that senior citizens had been neglected most of the time during the pandemic or lockdown. Elderly persons run into problems in maintaining the house or running their families, particularly when their children working outside lose their jobs during the pandemic, he pointed out.

Resource person advocate L Pinky spoke on the ways to help the elderly persons during this pandemic while mentioning that they have been facing uncertainties after being affected by the pandemic in an unprecedented manner.

“In order to get some relief during the pandemic, we have to help them by identifying those who are presently facing issues. We can help them through phone calls and by examining what their daily requirements are,” she said.

“We have assisted them in fields like taking appointments for doctors or at other their requirements physically or through telephonic conversations. There are also various schemes that the government has launched and as para legal volunteers, we have to make them get the benefits of the schemes,” she added.
