Five members of family test COVID-19 positive after hosting birthday party in Kakching

The birthday of a boy of the family of Kakching Turel Wangma, ward number 5 was celebrated on September 12.

Altogether five members of a family in Kakching have tested positive for COVID-19 a few days after hosting a birthday party. The family belongs to ward number 5 of Kakching Municipal Council, Manipur. 

According to sources, birthday of a boy of the family of Kakching Turel Wangma, ward number 5 was celebrated on September 12.

The boy's father aged about 40 years complained of illness few days after the birthday celebration. Eventually, the family members were tested on Saturday and five including the parents of the boy and his siblings were found COVID-19 positive.

It is said that a boy, who attended the birthday celebration, has also tested positive for the virus while eight boys have also been identified for conducting tests.

Meanwhile, during contact tracing a friend of the boy's father has also tested COVID-19 positive. He is said to have shared food with the father during the birthday celebration.

In order to contain the situation, Kakching DC has declared the locality as containment zone on Monday and took up necessary precautionary measures. 

Further, Kakching DC has also attached containment tag to two more localities, namely, Kakching Mayai leikai and Kakching Wairi Sabal leikai, thereby restricting movement, following detection of COVID-19 positive cases in the localities.
