The 90 fresh cases included 25 each from Thoubal and Kangpokpi, 17 from Jiribam, 12 from Imphal West, eight from Imphal East, two from Kakching and one from Tengnoupal, according to a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room.

"Four persons from Thoubal district are non-returnees with local contact histories and the rest are returnees from other states," it said.

The release, however, stated that there is no evidence of community transmission in any part of the state.

Meanwhile, 64 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, the release stated.

It stated that non-medical measures such as social distancing, wearing of face mask, hand hygiene, cough etiquette and avoidance of non-essential travel still stand very effective for prevention of COVID-19 spread. As such, control of the pandemic is contingent on the complete adoption of the above practices by the public, the release added.
