COVID-19 death toll reaches 24, recovery rate improves to 70.02 per cent in Manipur

The cumulative number of positive cases is 5,444 (General Population – 4,013 and Central Security Personnel - 1,431) out of which 3,812 are recovered cases and 1,608 are active cases.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths has reached 24 in Manipur after two females aged 73 and 41 expired at RIMS due to COVID-19 and other comorbid health conditions in the last 24 hours since Monday.

Meanwhile, altogether 82 persons, including 74 from general population and eight personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, said a release issued from COVID-19 Common Control Room.

Only four persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 70 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it said.

It further stated that 99 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 5,444 (General Population – 4,013 and Central Security Personnel - 1,431) out of which 3,812 are recovered cases and 1,608 are active cases. The recovery rate is 70.02 percent, it added. 

It went on to point out that orders for Unlock 3 guidelines are issued as per the orders of the Home department, government of Manipur on Tuesday.

It said that the department has continued its ban on social/ political sports/entertainment/ academic cultural/ religious functions and other congregations as such gatherings are a dangerous source of Covid infection.

Penalties for violation of guidelines include gathering in excess of authorised number of persons on ceremonies - Rs. 10,000; failure to wear masks in public places - Rs. 200; failure to maintain social distancing in public places- Rs 200; and any other violation of guidelines - Rs 1,000, the release added.
