COVID-19 claims two more lives in Nagaland, 50 more test positive

COVID-19 death toll in Nagaland on Wednesday rose to 620 as two more patients died due to the infection, while 50 new positive cases pushed the state's caseload to 30,485, according to the latest update posted by the state health department on Twitter.

The two COVID-19 victims on Wednesday were from Dimapur and Kohima respectively, as per the update. So far, 14 persons with COVID-19 positivity have also died in the state. However, their deaths were not due to COVID-19, it added.

On Wednesday, a total of 2,524 test results were received, of which 50 were found positive for COVID-19 and the positivity rate as of Wednesday is 1.98 per cent. The cumulative number of test results received as of Wednesday day is 3,37,963.

Dimapur continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 positive cases at 30. Six new positive cases were from Kohima reported,  four each from Mokokchung and Phek, three from Tuensang, two from Wokha and one from Kiphire, the state health department said in a tweet.

"#COVID19 Fresh Positive: 50 on 8th September, 2021: Dimapur: 30, Kiphire: 1, Kohima: 6, Mokokchung: 4, Phek: 4, Tuensang: 2, Wokha: 2, Tuensang: 1," the health department tweeted.

Meanwhile, 48 new recoveries, including 22 from Dimapur; nine from Kohima; five from Mokokchung and three each from Phek and Tuensang, pushed the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in Nagaland to 28,226. With it, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state as of Wednesday is 707, the health department stated.

As many as 918 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, it added.
