COVID-19 claims 434 more lives across several states in India

India on Thursday reported a slight surge in daily COVID-19 positive cases and fatalities with the report of 7,495 new cases and 434 COVID deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Consequently, the daily positivity rate (0.62%) remained less than two per cent for the last 80 days, while the weekly positivity rate (0.59%) remained less than one per cent for the last 39 days.

India's COVID-19 active caseload currently stands at 78,291. Active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.23 per cent, lowest since March 2020.

The daily recovery rate currently is 98.40 per cent; highest since March 2020. A total of 6,960 more recoveries in the last 24 hours pushed the number of total recoveries to 3,42,08,926.

A total of 66.86 crore tests for COVID-19 have been conducted so far, while 139.70 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
