COVID-19 active caseload in Manipur spirals to 3,744

Manipur reported 388 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Wednesday.

Manipur on Wednesday reported 388 new COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 16.2 per cent, while three more patients died due to the infection, according to the latest update from the state health department.

With the addition of the new positive cases, the state's COVID-19 active caseload mounted to 3,744 on Wednesday. The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state reached 1,31,339 while the death toll climbed to 2,034, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 384 persons were from the general population while four were Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. From the general population, 175 cases were from Imphal West, 97 from Imphal East, 21 from Tengnoupal, 17 from Churachandpur, 16 from Thoubal, 14 from Bishnupur, 12 from Kakching, eight each from Kangpokpi and Senapati, five from Ukhrul, four each from Jiribam and Chandel,  two from Noney, and one from Tamenglong, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The three COVID-19 deaths reported on Wednesday were from Imphal West, Bishnupur and Ukhrul. All the deceased had comorbidities and none were vaccinated, as per the release. 

The state also recorded 240 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,25,561. The recovery rate is 95.60 per cent, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 231 D-type oxygen cylinders and 69 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 24,55,102 (first dose: 13,98,572 second dose: 10,37,016, precautionary dose: 19,514).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 58.14 per cent and for the second dose is 44.30 per cent, it mentioned.
