As many as 60 doctors were awarded by the Indian Medical Association, Manipur, for their selfless sacrifice and contribution towards the fights against the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The awards were presented to the doctors during the annual spring event organised by the IMA, Manipur at Lamphelpat, Imphal on Friday, as a part of the IMA-MSB Exemplary Service Award distribution.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the function, president, IMA-MSB, Dr Jugindro Sorokhaibam said that with an objective to acknowledge the immense contribution made by health professionals during COVID-19 pandemic, the award presentation is being held as a part of annual spring get-together.
He said that health professional plays crucial role by putting their lives at risk to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Their selfless sacrifice extended during the pandemic to save lives when everyone was scared to even come out from their homes should never be forgotten.
The condition of COVID-19 is improving gradually and thus restriction is being lifted. Yet the pandemic is still continuing. As such, support should be provided to medical staff at all times, he said.
As a part of the programme, painting competition for three different categories of students was held under different theme. For categories below class III, no particular theme was given, while for class III to Class V, the theme was “Festival of Colour” and from Class VI to Class VIII was “Clean and Healthy World.
