As many as 10 cases of Omicron were detected in Delhi on Friday, taking the city's tally to 20, official sources said.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that of the 20 Omicron cases detected in the national capital, 10 cases have been discharged.
Delhi reported its first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 on December 5 after a 37-year-old man who returned from Tanzania tested positive for the new variant. The first Omicron patient in Delhi has also been discharged.
Over 90 cases of Omicron have so far been reported across India. The new variant of COVID-19 has been reported in several states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Keral and Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the first three Omicron patients in Gujarat have recovered from the infection and have been discharged. A 72-year-old NRI man who arrived from Zimbabwe, along with his wife, was found infected with the Omicron variant on December 4. His wife and his brother-in-law, who lives in Jamnagar, were also found infected with the new variant of COVID-19 on December 10.
