ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the CSR branch of ICICI Bank and tts group companies, on Friday signed an MOU with Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural Manipur.
A release stated that the MOU was signed virtually by chief operating officer of ICICI foundation for Inclusive Growth Anuj Agarwal and state mission director of MSRLM, department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Robita Yumnam.
Under the MOU, both the organisations will work together to train the local youths as ‘Pashu Sakhi’, ‘Fish Mitra’ and ‘Krishi Mitra’, which will provide on ground technical support to the farmers for taking up fishery, piggery and agriculture operations, it added. Assuring that ICICI Foundation will support the farmers by organising capacity building programmes, technology introduction, piloting, business planning, enterprise development, value addition and development of value chains, the release declared that MSRLM will provide support by mobilization of the SHGs, facilitating training, provision of revolving fund and loan to SHGs and development of farmers’ collective.
Asserting that the MOU is expected to further strengthen the ongoing livelihood activities of both the organisations and benefit the rural population in project locations of Manipur, it stated that MSRLM and ICICI Foundation shall be working on enhancing farmer’s income as well as minimising the demand supply gap of fish, pork and other agricultural commodities in the state.
