Writer Elangbam Romesh Singh alias Manihar on Monday released three books entitled Makhal Mathel Amashung Itahas, Pukning Lousing and Office ki Chatpa Pathap at a function at Mawao Lairembi (Soubam Lairembi), Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, Imphal West on Monday.
Romesh said his three books are written in Bengali script and he used mostly indigenous vocabulary so that after reading the books, the new generation could be aware of the proverbs and simple indigenous vocabulary that was used during the ancient Manipuri history.
Society is in a transition stage where the new generations are not able to read or write the Bengali script and the older generations do not understand the Meitei Mayek script, he added. He said if any individual could translate his three books into Meitei Mayek script then it could be useful for the younger generation who do not understand Bengali script.
Elaborating on his books, Romesh said he also added various jokes from ancient Manipuri, including simple proverbs and idioms that are used in earlier times. He included jokes in his books so that any readers could enjoy the book.
He said ‘laugh’ is one of the most effective therapies for an individual for any kind of illness or disease. Apart from that the book also contain the rules and regulation that should be followed in offices after considering the difficulties faced by the public while coming to offices, said the author.
Manipur Veterans’ Hockey Association president Soram Lokeshwar Singh; retired forest officer Chingtham Iboton Singh; associate professor, Geology department, DM College of Science, Thangjam Ranjit Singh and others attended the function as dignitaries.
