Two books in Meitei Mayek by Pukhrambam Kunjo Singh released

The book ‘Eejaning ee Pareng Amatang Kavita gi seireng’ is a continuation of a book published in August 1972 - Saiyon taret Lang-on mapan.

Two books entitled - ‘Loikum Loika (Khamba Thoibi) seireng’ and ‘Eejaning ee Pareng Amatang Kavita gi Seireng’ - by Pukhrambam Kunjo Singh were released at a programme organised by Kunjo Singh Publication, Kakching, Manipur on Sunday.

Eejaning ee Pareng Amatang Kavita gi seireng’ is the sequence of a book published in August 1972 - Saiyon taret Lang-on mapan. And, ‘Loikum Loika (Khamba Thoibi) seireng’ is the seventh edition of the ‘Saiyon taret Lang-on mapan’ of the Moirang literature series, the writer said.

Kunjo said he had written the two books in Meitei Mayek, and he will publish all his works in Meitei Mayek script in the future. He will also release a book entitled ‘Henjunaha’ soon.

The writer recalled that he had been teaching English grammar from 1958 till 2008. He said he had also released part I of English grammar books in both Meitei Mayek and Bengali script. He said that he will soon release part II, III and IV of the English grammar book in Meitei Mayek.

Speaking on the occasion, Manipuri department MU professor N Sanatomba extended acknowledgement to Pukhrambam Kunjo for conserving the Moirang literature by continuing Hijam Anganghal’s epic poetry of ‘Khamba Thoibi’.

It can be mentioned that apart from his contributions to Manipuri literature, Kunjo had published more than 10 books in English.

Kunjo had received many awards in literature including Glory of India, 1997, Asian Admirable Achievers, 2009, along with the Chandra Sakhi Laishram Sahitya award, 2018 by Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching.

The event was attended by Manipuri department, MU assistant professor Koijam Santibala as the chief guest.

Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching former president Yengkhom Dhananjoi was the function president and writer Moirangthem Rajendra attended as special guest, along with other Manipuri literature enthusiasts.
