Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal holds 20th annual conference

The Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal branch released its annual literary journal along with five other books written by satirist poet Moirangthem Rajendra.

The Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal district branch on Thursday held its 20th Annual Conference at the Khorirol Sanglen at Wangjing in Thoubal district and released the annual literary journal entitled ‘Khori-Eehul’.

The 20th Annual Conference of the Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal district branch commenced with a floral tribute to the departed members of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal branch.

As a part of the event, the Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal branch released its annual literary journal along with five other books written by satirist poet Moirangthem Rajendra.

It was attended by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal Langjam Joichandra as the chief guest, poetess and advisor of Ningol Khut Manipur Yengkhom as the president along with Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing president Tongbram Babulan and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad secretary Elangbam Priyobata as the guests of honour as well as other eminent writers and literature enthusiasts.

The chief guest released the annual literary journal ‘Khori-Eehul’  published by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal branch and edited by Sanasam Nabadip.

Five other books written by writer Moirangthem Rajendra were also released, namely ‘Tentha gi Rajen’ (short story), ‘Ei Philosopher Amani’ (poem), ‘Tentha gi Rajen, Moirangthem Rajen’ (poem), ‘Masi Eigi Wakhal ni’(poem) and ‘Haide Laidi Karisu’(poem).

It can be mentioned that Moirangthem Rajendra was popular in Manipuri literature as a satirist poet for his humoristic tone of writing. He was also honoured with the title of ‘Kabiraj’ (King of Poets) in Manipuri literature.

As part of the event, gifts were presented to elderly poets who attended the event and a poets’ meet was also conducted in which 30 poets read their poems.
