Kshetri Bira’s new novel ‘Paokhum’ released

'Paokhum' book launch ceremonies was held at Library and Information Center, Kakching and other places namely, Lakhipur, Agartala, Guwahati and Delhi on Sunday.

Kshetri Bira’s novel titled Paokhum was released at separate book launch ceremonies held at Library and Information Center, Kakching and other places namely, Lakhipur, Agartala, Guwahati and Delhi on Sunday.

The book launch organised jointly by Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching and Angom Ningthou Preservation and Documentation Centre, Uripok Achom Leikai at Library and Information Center, Kakching was attended by VC of Dhanamanjuri University N Rajmohon as the chief guest, dean of Humanities, Manipur University Nahakpam Aruna Devi as the guest of honour, and Sahitya Academy awardee Maibam Nabakishore as the president.

Speaking on the occasion, Kshetri Bira said that his novel titled ‘Paokhum’ was released at five different places of the country at the same time. The novel had been released at separate places with the hopes of bringing the spirits of Manipuri literature enthusiasts together regardless of their locations, he added.

It can be mentioned that some of Kshetri Bira’s books are ‘Lotluraba chithi’ (1999), ‘Hinglambani ei magidamak’ (2000), ‘Firep’ (2002), ‘Ei’ (2005), ‘Nangbu ngaibada’ (2009), ‘Ningthigi Ningthem’ (2015).

His accolades include Sahitya Academy Award, Manipur Award for Literature and Sahitya Kala Academy.
