Chief minister N Biren Singh released a book titled, ‘Writings & speeches of Radhabinod Koijam, An Anthology’ which is compiled and edited by L Memo Singh at the Auditorium of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal on Monday.
N Biren Singh who attended the event as the chief guest, said a true politician should be visionary and politicians today have a lot to learn from former chief minister Radhabinod Koijam. CM Biren said that he respects and appreciates the former chief minister as a politician and leader.
Radhabinod Koijam in his brief speech said that the book is a collection of speeches, writings published in national and local newspapers and other publications.
On the sidelines of the event, he said that he reflected upon Indian federalism in view of the smaller Northeastern state in the book. He said the Central government has treated north eastern states including Manipur, Nagaland and others differently as compared with bigger mainland India.
Responding to the media he said that a long term solution is needed to bring normalcy back in Manipur. It has already been reported in different media houses that the ongoing crisis in Manipur involves external aggression, he mentioned. The union home minister alone cannot restore normalcy but a proper discussion is needed among the Union Home Minister, union defence minister, external affairs minister and others, he added.
Both the governments should take the decision after observing the issue from different perspectives, said the former CM.
Retired civil servant Kangjam Radhakumar Singh presented a critical appraisal on the book. The event was also attended by Manipur University VC professor N Lokendra Singh, JNMDA Director, Pukhrambam Bilash Singh, editor of the book L Memo Singh.
