The 30th Imphal Book Fair, 2023 was launched by Art and Culture commissioner M Joy at State Central Library and Manipur State Archive Campus, Keishampat on Friday.
During the inaugural programme, M Joy said that reading habits should be given to students.
Keeping special values and interest towards books can begin from the library. Such a book fair will help book lovers choose from different varieties of books, he said.
A souvenir was also released during the inaugural programme. The seven-day book fair includes other programmes like quiz competition, painting competition etc. The programme was attended by retired director of Art and Culture L Kishworjit and Manipur University librarian Ch Ibohal.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Transport has notified that in connection with “The 30th Imphal Book Fair, 2023” to be held from December 15 to 21 at the State Central Library, Imphal and Manipur State Archive Campus and in exercise of the powers conferred under section 117 of the MV Act, 1988.
As per the notification, the existing passengers picking up point for Indo-Burma Sugnu Road buses at Keishampat Bus Bay in between the Manipur state Archive Building & Power House will be shifted along the southern side of the road in between the adjoining wall of Tribal Hostel (at present occupied by CRPF) and N.K. Hindu Hotel.
The directorate in a notice on Friday said that only two buses will be allowed for picking up passengers at a time from the above-mentioned location during the said dates.
