There are 22 official languages in India, and to aggrandise Hindi at the expense of the rest of the official languages is insensible and demeaning. Moreover, Hindi imposition will only endanger languages and dialects that are already on the verge of extinction. What the government should focus on is the protection and promotion of endangered languages.
