Dibrugarh-Pasighat-Lilabari flight to be inaugurated

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu will grace the event. Alliance Air will be India’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operations.

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry is set to launch the first-ever commercial flight of Made in India HAL Dornier Do-228 from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, and the first-ever Flying Training Organization (FTO) for North Eastern Region at Lilabari, Assam, on Tuesday.

Both events will be graced by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu.

The ministry stated in a release that Alliance Air will be India’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operations.

The Dibrugarh-Pasighat flight is a part of the Centre's effort to further boost air connectivity of North Eastern Region with the rest of India.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has approved a Scheme – “Providing air connectivity and Aviation infrastructure in North Eastern Region (NER)” to promote air connectivity in the States of  NER and, if required, to develop infrastructure for air connectivity. The two new launches are a part of this scheme.

Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Rajiv Bansal, Usha Padhee and Amber Dubey, Joint secretaries of Civil Aviation Ministry and other dignitries from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, and Alliance Air will be present at the event.

Development of North Eastern Region (NER) is not only of strategic importance, but is also part of India’s growth story. New airports are getting developed and old airports are getting upgraded. Considering the hilly terrain, helicopter operations under UDAN scheme have been given focus for connectivity, the ministry added.
