Air quality in Guwahati hazardous, Imphal 'unhealthy'

The PM2.5 concentration in Guwahati air is currently 37.8 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline value, according to IQAir AQI.

Air quality in Guwahati was recorded "hazardous" and Imphal was recorded "unhealthy" as per the latest update on air pollution in Imphal based on sattelite date by IQAir on Monday.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 191, according to the IQAir's satellite data on air pollution in Imphal, Manipur and main pollutant is PM2.5.

PM2.5 concentration in Imphal air is currently 26.5 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline value, as per the latest data update.

In Guwahati, Assam the AQI was recorded at 337, and main pollutant is PM10. The PM2.5 concentration in Guwahati air is currently 37.8 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline value, according to IQAir AQI.

Meanwhile, according to air quality forecast by the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, the air quality on Monday was poor and it is likely to remain in "Poor category" on March 22-23. Predominant pollutant is PM10 and dust. For the subsequent seven days, the air quality is likely to remain largely in poor category.

The predominant surface wind is likely to be coming from Northwest/North direction of Delhi with wind speed 12-20 kmph, clear sky and strong surface winds (speed 20-30 kmph) during the day on 22.03.2022. On March 23, the predominant surface wind is likely to be coming from Northwest/North direction of Delhi with wind speed 12-20 kmph and mainly clear sky.
