Work of 15 artists marks World Art Day 2023 celebration

As many as 15 artists from across the valley districts, who are known for their talent and compassion in the field of fine art and painting, participated and showcased their works.

As part of the 8th World Art Day 2023 celebration, an art workshop cum exhibition was held at Shilheipung Eco Tourism Park in Imphal East. It was organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, North East in association with Shilheipung Tourism and Mix Media Foundation (MMF).

As many as 15 artists from across the valley districts, who are known for their talent and compassion in the field of fine art and painting, participated and showcased their works.

The day is celebrated throughout the globe to help reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and highlight the contribution of artists to sustainable development, said secretary of MMF Sanajaoba.

He elaborated that it is also an occasion to shine a light on arts education, as culture can pave the way for inclusive and equitable education, besides creating an awareness to let the society understand its values and digest a deeper sense of artistic skills and hardship overcome by the artist of the state.

The secretary also informed that the organisers had also planned to set up a permanent gallery at the Shilheipung park to utilise as a working centre for artists.

MLA of Lamlai Kh Ibomcha who attended the programme as chief guest distributed certificates to the participants which included artists of painting, clay designing, handicraft and graffiti.

The programme was also attended by deputy commandant of BSF Koirengei Vabhani Singh and other senior artists of the state.
