Kalakshetra Manipur on Tuesday observed its 53rd foundation day by showcasing their new production ‘Pi-Thadoi’, a play based on destruction of forest in greed by humans.
Director of the play, Heisnam Tomba, while interacting with media at the sidelines of the function, said that the foundation day is being observed in a humble manner by paying floral tribute and with a presentation of their new production ‘Pi-Thadoi’.
He further said that during the last 53 years, Kalakshetra Manipur has produced as many as 40 plays. ‘Pi-Thadoi’ is a short play and it is very much relevant with the present-day issue of climate change created out of reckless destruction of forest, he added.
The desire to save the forest had motivated them to produce the play, he said while stating there is expectation that people would surely enjoy the play and extend their contribution in saving mother nature.
During the function, former director of EMMRC, Manipur University, Nongthombam Premchand and president of Kalakshetra Manipur, Wangkhem Gokulchandra attended as chief guest and president respectively.
