Manipur observes World Art Day

Manipur also celebrated World Art Day on the theme ‘A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art’ on Monday.

Joining the rest of the globe, Manipur also celebrated World Art Day on the theme ‘A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art’ on Monday.

The celebration organised by Mix Media Foundation was also held at Khurai Lamlong bridge, Imphal East. Speaking to the media on the sidelines, general secretary of the foundation Sanajaoba Tensuba stated that releasing mental stress and trauma was the vital need of the hour.

“I hope the celebration ushers in a new political era in Manipur where able leaders are at the helm to guide the people out of this treacherous crisis,” he said.

He maintained that artistic expression and space were shrinking due to the crisis and appealed to the authorities to put an end to the crisis.

On the occasion, Sanajaoba maintained that the day is observed across the globe to promote the intrinsic relation between art and the human race.

“The day is a significant day for artists across the globe,” he added.

Members of the foundation painted murals along the bank of Imphal River, calling for the people to keep the rivers safe and clean.

The celebration was also held at the department of Fine Arts, Manipur University.

Dean of School of Humanities professor Soibam Imoba, head of department of Philosophy Laimayum Bishwanath Sharma and head-in-charge of department of Fine Arts Meinam Irikhomba Meitei among others were present during the event.
