39 contestants from Assam competed at Manipuri Cultural Event Talent Hunt 2023

The Manipuri Cultural Events Talent Hunt 23 was held at Manipuri Basti in Guwahati on February 5.

The Manipuri Cultural Events Talent Hunt 2023 held at Rajbari Athletic Club at Manipuri Basti in Guwahati on February 5 featured 39 contestants from different parts of Assam.

UMACO stated in a release that the second edition of the event based on all forms of Manipuri folk, classical and modern songs and dances was organised to encourage the youngster of the day.

The event was attended by UMACO president Thokchom Ngouba as the president, Wangoi MLA Khuraijam Loken as the chief guest, social activist from Jiribam Nameirakpam Budhachandra as the special guest, Guwahati Manipuri Social Organisation president Laishram Hemanta as the guest of honour along with other personalities, it mentioned.

It stated that as part of the opening ceremony of the event, UMACO band performed a song which was composed by Sagolsem Tijendra with the lyrics written by Thokchom Ngouba. The speakers delivered speeches in the field of arts and culture of the Manipuri community, it mentioned.

It also stated that during the evening session, a program of ‘Meetei Pung Cholom’ and a Manipuri folk dance was performed by students of UMACO Cultural Training Centre, Patarkuchi under the guidance of Maimom Sachikumar Singha and Ranita Moirangthem.

The talent hunt event organised by the United Manipuri Arts and Cultural Organisation (UMACO) was participated by 39 contestants from different parts of Assam, it added.
