The 5th Lamjing Meira Ningsing Numit will be observed at Awa Ching on July 8 in a low key affair by maintaining the standard operating procedure concerning COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking in a press conference held at office of JCILPS, convenor of JCILPS, YK Dhiren said that in honour of Sapam Robinhood who laid down his life during the protest, demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state in 2015, the day is being observed every year on July 8 at Awa Ching, Imphal East.
He further said that despite COVID-19 pandemic, they will observe the day in a humble manner by following all the preventive measures. He also appealed to people of the state to light a candle in the memory of late Sapam Robinhood.
Condemning the state government for not fulfilling the assurance of building a memorial complex of Robinhood at Awa Ching, he said that it is unfortunate that the state government remains silent despite giving assurance in building the memorial complex where the last rites of Robinhood were performed. They will start building the memorial without waiting for any support from the state government.
