One suspected militant cadre gunned down

A suspected Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) cadre was shot dead by unknown persons at Bongbal Khullen village, 20 km South of Thoubal Maphou Dam Police Station, in Senapati district, Manipur, police sources said.

The police said the incident took place around 7.30 am and the deceased was identified as one 22-year-old Sonkhothang alias David Haokip, son of Lunjamang Haokip of B Vengnuam, Churachandpur a/p  B Gamnom hill top under Maphou Dam Police Station.

The attackers are suspected to be members of militant group, the Kuki National Front (N), police said.

The body is kept at JNIMS mortuary, Imphal till the time of filing this report.
