Sixth time AIBA World Champion MC Mary Kom entered pre-quarter finals of the Olympic Games after defeating Miguelina Hernandez Garcia of Dominican Republic in the opening round of women's flyweight (48-51kg) category.
The 38-year-old, who is a 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, prevailed 4-1 in round of 32 against the 21-year old Dominican boxer, who had won a bronze medal in Pan American Games in 2019.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted, "Great performance against Dominican Republic's Miguelina Hernandez today, @MangteC. Let’s keep the spirit high."
The magnificient MC Mary Kom will be next up in round of 16 against third-seeded Colombian boxer Ingrit Valencia, a bronze medallist at the 2016 Rio Games on July 29.
