The house-to-house testing of two family members each which was conducted with police back-up following the order issued by the DC of Churachandpur on July 9 has reportedly not been well received by the residents of Churachandpur.

Some of the locals have expressed that they will not comply with the alleged forced testing but they may agree if it comes with a request or persuasion. An individual who preferred to remain anonymous said that the allegedly forced house-to-house testing was against his fundamental rights and he will not be bullied into testing.

Meanwhile, Churachandpur district recorded 237 COVID-19 positive cases and four deaths in the past 48 hours with another 78 people tested positive for the virus along with two cases of death from Covid infections in the last 24 hours.

It is considered that the surge in the number of Covid positive cases might be due to the mass testing programme held at village level. However, an important point to be noted is that 24 positive cases came from the District Hospital while 16 positive cases came from the mass testing programme held on Tuesday.

There is also a reported discrepancy in the claim made by the DC of Churachandpur on the percentage of people vaccinated in the district with that of official records.

While the DC had claimed on July 6 that 50 per cent of the district populace had been vaccinated, the vaccination chart on Tuesday showed only 42.02 per cent of Churachandpur had been vaccinated.
